The MMT Natural Guide Star Adaptive Optics system (MMTAO) is the first AO system that uses a deformable secondary mirror to correct optical distortions introduced by the Earth’s atmosphere, and produces diffraction-limited imaging from 10 microns to the near infra-red.
The capabilities of the AO system are outlined in the observer’s information page, along with pages that detail the available instruments for use with the MMTAO system. Procedures for applying for time are given, along with papers and press generated by the instrument. A list of people working on the project may be found on the contacts page.
Questions and comments about the MMTAO system and this website may be e-mailed to mmtaoweb (at) as.arizona.edu.
